can anyone tell me or point me in the direction where it is a written law
that you must show your dive card to get a tank fill. Im helping out in a
local dive store on the weekends and ive had a few cranky customers when ive
asked for cards and one even said that its not a law in writing, so i want
to know if its true or not.

Check with your local Occupational Safty and Health Authority. In WA it
isnt law as far as I am aware.

Our local dive store said it was more to do with insurance. He said that he
needs to be sure that the person has the necessary skills to go diving and
not kill themselves. Therefore not leaving himself open to any law suits.
