Hello,

I am planning to buy one of the following dive computer/watches

Suunto Stinger or Suunto Mosquito,

what are the differences between the two ? All I can find is Mosquito
is cheaper, is that all ? Please tell me.

How is the software for data download and graph plotting of suunto ?
Any other third party softwares compatible ?

What about other dive computers or dive computer watches ? Is my
choice suunto good ? any problems ? please give me all your
recommendations.

Please if not too much bothering what is the price of these suunto's
in your countries ? USA? UK ? Australia ? anywhere just to compare.

Thanks,

Mario

Stinger is nicer looking (personal feeling) Stinger is good for some
more meters of depth. 150 instead of 99, mostly depending on that the
mosquito is of platstic the main difference. The other difference if
that the stinger is usable in gauge mode that isn't availible in the
Mosquito.

One of the best log programs for Windows is Suunto Dive Manager, but
I'm working on a replacemant for Unix & Windwos, maybe it gets
usable.

2500 if I remember correctly.

Those were not FIM's, but the prices in Finland are quite high:

Mosquito: about 400€
Stinger: about 650€
Vyper: about 400€
Vytec: about 700€
Cobra: about 600€

Small market, taxes, etc. Keeps the prices high.

Enable ISO-8859-15 in your browser, and check my previous posting.
If you can't, take Quake II symbol, and rotate it :)

Stinger 5300 Sek about 570 euro
Mosquito 3500 Sek about 380 euro

One main reason is that we have high taxes in sweden.

They sure do. All of them.

If you go to the suunto website, you can find a product matrix where
the differences are listed side by side. There is not much difference
for recreational diver apart from the looks.

My wife dives with a Mosquito, I have a Vyper. She took M because of
her small wrist size (the vyper simply was too big). I find the Vyper
display a bit more clear because it is easier to see the bars on the
side, but that's about it. Cobra would be nice if I owned my own
regulator set, Vytec if I had loads and loads of money ;-)

AFAIK, Suunto is the current market leader in dive computers, but I
may be wrong. They have very conservative profiles (which can be made
even more conservative). Many people happily and safely dive with other
brands.

I think both Mosquito and Vyper are about 400-450Euro here in
Finland, but that's not a very good reference.

The Mosquito is black plastic, the Stinger is stainless steel or
titanium. I have the titanium Stinger and it's great, I love it. It cost
me 400 UK Pounds at a dive show a couple of years ago, I'm not sure what
they are now.

Cheers, Robert.
