Hi:
I live in Nova Scotia Canada.

I plan on being in Melbourne in the first 2 weeks of June 2004.

I would like some suggestions on Dive Charters and dive sites.

Links to websites would be good.

I looking for anything from day trips to Liveaboards 2 nights 3 days.

If a website is not available contact info would be good

What can I expect to pay for any of the suggestion that are made.

I am also open to diving from other cities on the East Coast.

Is there a website available for Australia that lists all the Business in
the country. It is call the Yellowpages in Canada.(you guessed it printed on
yellow paper :-))
http://www.yellowpages.ca

Thank-you

John

Well, you won't notice the cold too much then! (Assuming you have dived
in NS in December)

Not many charters in Melbourne, in June it will be mainly weekend dives.

Hit google.com.au and searcg for "dive shops" in Oz only.

It's only a few thousand kilometres to Cairns from Melbourne, go there
and dive the Great BArrier Reef too.

But a lot of business refuse to list, as it is moderately expensive, and
possibly of dubious value.

Also hit http://www.webwombat.com.au

try http://www.underwater.com.au - It's THE Scuba diving portal for
Australia. Comprehensive information on dive shops, liveaboards,
charter and day boats, accommodation, gear and more - community
meeting place for divers and marine enthusiasts.

You can navigate the site by map or search by keywords. All dive
shops, charter boats and liveaboards can be contacted directly through
the site - saving you heaps of time when you compare shops

Hope I could help and hope to see you underwater ...

John,
I use 'Dive Victoria' for all my boat dives in the Melbourne area. You
can get their website at www.divevictoria.com.au.
I've found them to be a good, reliable operator every time. If the
conditions are suitable, the J class subs are great dives, but you'll need
to be certified to dive them - see the ratings system Dive Victoria uses on
their site.

BTW: You'll need a drysuit or 7mm semi-dry at that time of year as the water
temp will only be around 14deg C.

john,

you do realise its winter in June? probably not an issue if you dive in
Canada!

melbourne has some lovely dives - i'd recommend any of the submarines or
wall dives.

also see www.escuba.com.au

however, do think about spending some time further north in queensland
(cairns, townsville) for some really terrific diving.
