I read this and yawned. Ask your next liveaboard op to tell you what
their knowledge / plan is re: the possiblity of pirates. See if they
can discuss it with you. I doubt that most will be honest with you.
But trust me, there is a reason that ships sailing in certain areas
will require that a crew member or two stay awake all night. It isn't
to keep the sea-snakes from climbing up the anchor line. It isn't to
keep the pax from drinking all the booze. Those crew members on watch
duty are most likely armed with guns...if not on their person, then
nearby to their reach.
