My trusty old (circa 1978) Seiko has finally given up the ghost, (well,
really, my toddler piffed it down the stairs, several times), and I want
to get a new one.

I only know of Omega, Citizen, and Seiko as making "real" dive watches,
so I throw myself on the collective opinions of Usenet, sharper than so
may knives...

Cheers,
Gary B-)

P.S. I'm located in Australia, so I would like ideas on items that
might be available here.

Hi Garry,
I have a Citizen Promaster HyperAqualand that I had sent from the US. They
retail here for over $1000 and I got it delivered for about $320AU. Not a
bad deal and I'm very happy with it. Good range of functions including
docking with your PC which is pretty cool.
Try http://store.watchwonderland.com/ and punch in 'dive' in the search
thingy.

Cheers

I should have said, "Don't worry about Dive Computers, I have one of
those, I want a watch that won't scare people!" :-)

But you can get a wrist-mounted dive *computer* from Suunto.fi :-). I
love my Stinger and it's a nice piece of jewelery too. The titanium
version is significantly lighter than the stainless steel.

Cheers, Robert.

Yes, but I _have_ a Dive Computer, it's on my SPG unit. If it was
broken too, then I'd think about getting a wrist mounted one.

I got my C-Card back in 1978 - I'm old fashioned in some ways, I _like_
analogue displays!

Cheers,

I sometimes use my mosquito as a backup computer (just put it in my BCD pocket). I use a far more elaborate computer as my primary.
The trend I've seen is that divers are using the small dive computers for their watches, at least around here.

I have a Pulsar Quartz Diver. Water reistant to 200m. I wear it all the
time down at 40m and its never missed a beat. The placky/rubber band
broke so I fitted a velcro one.
