Discussion:
Sherwood Free Parts for Life - Not any more!

Had my Maximus serviced last week & found out that the free parts for life
warranty is no longer honoured by the new distributor - parts were charged
at over $100! I will certainly be expressing my opinion to the new
distributor, as the lifetime warranty was a major factor when I bought the
regulator 4 years ago & had it serviced annually since. Anyone else with the
now void warranty should also write to:

Very disappointed at the after sales service of Sherwood's distributors.

We all have been ripped off $100 for parts that are worth about $5.

Shouldn't you take this up with the old distributors who obviously
told you something that wasn't true? The new distributors do not offer
this, as is their option, and what someone has told you in the past is
hardly their problem.

The old distributors and the new distributors are both agents of Sherwood,
and therefore the representations of Sherwood's old agents are binding upon
Sherwood, Basic Contract Law 101.

you will find in the papers that were given at the time the promotion was on
that it says it is a distributor warranty only and if they arent the
distributor anymore you should take it up with the old distributor as it
wasnt Sherwood that gave that warranty

first you should take it up with the shop that sold it to you in the first
place as they are the only entity that you actually have a contract with and
no doubt made representations to you about being given free parts for life
to persuade you to purchase the regulator at a large price and then you
should take it up with the old distributor etc etc but hit the shop that
sold it to you in the first place ............basic contract law 101>

Checked the paperwork, no mention of a distributors warranty, although it
does not concern me really as I have done the factory servicing course and
service my 4 Sherwood regulators myself. I have seen how some shops service
regulators in the back room, and I would not allow some pimply faced nose
ringed 17 year old to touch my regs.

I bought all my gear (all Sherwood) from this dealer. Had it serviced with
them every year and now they are charging for parts when they themselves
said it had a lifetime parts warranty. They were Sherwood distributors back
then as they are again now. I do not believe this will hold up in court and
will write a letter to 'The Ministry of Fair Trading'.

I agree, at the time it was offered as a Sherwood warranty, and it should be
honoured regardless of who the distributor is. If they don't offer the
warranty any more, that's fine but should honour the existing ones.
